teaching manual includes 21 ready-to-go lessons complete with student handouts, key terms, reading quizzes, background essays, and an accompanying DVD set.
Each lesson is tied to national history and civics standards and features reading tips to improve literacy, as well as a "Real Life Portal" to demonstrate the lesson's application to everyday life. The 8.5 reading level makes these connections accessible to your high school and gifted 8th grade students.
Students will understand the connection between current events and the Bill of Rights when they participate in activities such as:
writing letters to their elected representatives;
serving in a mock jury;
creating public service announcements; and

A 2006-2007 Yale University survey, conducted by Dr. Donald Green, found that students who used this curriculum made statistically significant gains in the number of questions they answered correctly about the Constitution. The curriculum increased the amount of information the students brought to bear when evaluating a hypothetical dilemma, and closed the gap between the highest achieving schools and the lowest.
